1 package (350g / approx. 12oz) Couscous Maison quick-preparation couscous
50g (1.75 oz.) butter
2 cups water (400ml)
¼ cup milk (50ml)
2-3 drops of rose water or vanilla extract, or any extract desired (optional)
½ teaspoon cinnamon
2-3 tablespoons sugar
¼ cup cut almonds
¼ cup roasted pine nuts
¼ cup raisins
¼ cup walnuts, crushed

How to prepare

  1. Pour the 2 cups of water into a pot together with the butter. On a low flame, melt the butter and bring to a boil. Add milk, sugar and cinnamon, and your chosen extract. Mix well, add the contents of the package of couscous, and turn off flame. Mix well and cover for 5 minutes. Separate the couscous granules, and add the cut almonds, pine nuts, raisins and walnuts.
  2. Serving suggestion: At Mimouna festivals, this dish is often served with leben (a thin, low-fat sour cream).
